We are starting a new project. This time, together with our partners from INCONE60 Green, we will focus on improving digital processes in small ports of the South Baltic region by implementing a port management system and enhancing operational efficiency. 

 

As the maritime industry continues to evolve, the demand for innovative, cost-effective solutions for small seaports is growing. Our project aims to introduce an innovative solution: the SeaTech system, whose goal will be to respond to the specific needs of small seaports and make them more competitive in the global market. 

The maritime industry is undergoing a significant transformation as it seeks to balance efficiency, sustainability, and technological advancements. In this context, the INCONE60 Green project emerges as a pivotal initiative aimed at modernizing small seaports across the South Baltic region. Launched on January 1, 2024, this ambitious project will run until December 31, 2026, focusing on improving digital processes and operational efficiency through the implementation of innovative IT solutions. 

 

United by the Sea – A Vision for a Blue and Green Future 

The INCONE60 Green project aligns with the broader vision of creating a sustainable, innovative, and internationally active South Baltic region. Under the motto, “United by the Sea into action for a blue and green future,” the project brings together key partners from Poland, Denmark, Lithuania, and Germany. Together, they are working towards a greener and more efficient maritime economy by reaping the benefits of digitization and advancing the digitalization of small seaports. 

 

 What is INCONE60 Green 

The project’s core objective is to enhance the digital capabilities of small ports through the development and implementation of the SeaTech system. This system, equipped with advanced modules such as SeaWay and SeaStat, aims to transform port management by streamlining operations, digitizing, improving data accessibility, and promoting sustainable practices. 

The pilot implementation of SeaTech will take place in the Władysławowo Port (Poland) and Vordingborg Port (Denmark). Both ports will serve as testbeds for the system, which will be designed to be replicable and scalable, ensuring that other small seaports in the region and beyond can benefit from this cutting-edge technology. 

Key Modules: SeaWay and SeaStat 

– SeaWay is a sophisticated software solution that leverages the insights gained from the previous INCONE60 project. It will quantify the environmental and economic benefits of shifting cargo from land to sea, emphasizing the advantages of short sea shipping. By providing real-time data on various transportation routes, cargo types, and environmental impacts, SeaWay will enable better decision-making for port authorities and stakeholders. 

   

– SeaStat addresses one of the most pressing issues in the maritime industry: the lack of a unified, accessible database for maritime statistics. Currently, valuable data is scattered across multiple sources, often behind paywalls and in inconsistent formats. SeaStat will create a comprehensive maritime statistics portal that will facilitate easy access to data at national, European, and global levels. This portal will support the publication of annual statistical reviews and help bridge data gaps, providing a vital resource for maritime stakeholders. 

 

Project Partners and Collaboration 

The success of INCONE60 Green hinges on collaboration between various partners across the South Baltic region. Leading the project is Gdynia Maritime University, supported by regular partners such as Vordingborg Port, Port of Władysławowo “Szkuner”, Klaipeda University, and Inero Software, among others. Additionally, associated partners like the Port of Elbląg and DAN SHIPPING & TRADING Sp. z o.o. will contribute their expertise to ensure the project meets its objectives. 

 

By bringing together experts in port management, software development, and maritime economics, INCONE60 Green aims to foster innovation and support the digital transition of small ports. Through active collaboration, the project will not only improve port operations but also pave the way for future-proofing these vital hubs of trade and logistics. 

 Looking Ahead: What’s Next for INCONE60 Green? 

The project is structured around several work packages, each focusing on different aspects of the digital and green transformation. By 2026, INCONE60 Green will implement SeaTech in Władysławowo and Vordingborg, with plans to expand its commercialization to other small ports. The project’s long-term impact will be to improve the competitiveness and sustainability of small seaports in the South Baltic region, ensuring they are equipped to meet the challenges of a rapidly evolving maritime industry. 

The INCONE60 Green project represents a bold step towards the future of small seaports, combining digital innovation with a commitment to sustainability. By developing and implementing the SeaTech system, the project aims to transform how small ports operate, making them more efficient, environmentally friendly, and competitive on the global stage.
